Bundle Description
The phrase safe and supportive learning environment encompasses a wide range of meanings. There has never been a greater concern for the safety and well-being of students.
This three-course program provides an overview to creating a safe and supportive learning environment while presenting foundational information about systems and supports for physical and emotional safety. Models of Emotional Intelligence (EI) and Social Emotional Learning (SEL) will be explored, as well as, how chronic stress and trauma can affect educators. Additionally, a key SEL competency of social awareness will be discussed that includes cultural diversity and bias.
Resources will be listed throughout the program to further self-directed learning on the topics presented and the three courses (EDU8004X, EDU8005X, and EDU8006X) can be taken out of sequence to meet an immediate interest in the subject matter.
