Course Description

AI Leadership empowers you to become a responsible and effective AI leader, equipped to navigate the complexities of AI adoption while ensuring it benefits your organization and society as a whole.  This course prepares students to engage critically and confidently with AI systems and technology professionals, leveraging AI-enabled capabilities and contributing to collaborative and cross-functional initiatives.  This course also provides a deeper technical understanding of how AI works, including relevant aspects of computer science and data science and enables students to communicate effectively with both engineers and end users.

Learning Modules Include

  • Unit 1: Introduction to AI Leadership - This unit dives into the social and cultural forces that influence AI adoption. You'll explore the concept of VUCA (Volatility, Uncertainty, Complexity, Ambiguity) and its implications for AI leadership. You'll also learn about the STEEP framework (Social, Technological, Economic, Environmental, Political) to analyze external factors impacting AI decisions.
  • Unit 2: Choosing and Implementing AI Tools - This unit focuses on selecting and integrating AI tools that align with your organization's specific needs. You'll learn to prioritize the well-being of users and choose tools that amplify human capabilities, not replace them. Importance of sustainability and ongoing support for successful tool adoption will be emphasized.
  • Unit 3: Designing Humane Emerging Technologies - This unit explores the ethical considerations of AI development and deployment. You'll delve into designing AI with accessibility, user experience, and digital literacy in mind, ensuring technology empowers rather than exploits. 
  • Unit 4: Developing a Technology Plan - This unit equips you with the skills to draft a technology plan that leverages AI to support your organization's mission and strategy. You'll consider the benefits and limitations of technology plans and integrate learnings from previous units.

  • Evaluate the role of leadership in adopting AI tools for the workforce.
  • Explore tool for evaluating AI’s role targeted application in the workplace.
  • Identify the key integration points that lend complexity to AI adoption.
  • Articulate the relative merits of designing humane emerging technologies.
  • Draft a Technology plan to leverage AI in support of organizational mission and strategy.

Requirements to Enroll

No applications are needed to enroll. All learners are eligible to enroll in the course. There are no admissions requirements. Transcripts are not required to be submitted. It is recommended that learners have a high school diploma or GED.


Estimated Time to Completion

This course is estimated to be completed in 50 hours.


Access Time

Learners will have access to their course learning modules for up to 12 months from the date of their enrollment.


CEUs and PDUs

  • CEUs- 5.0 National University Continuing Education Units

Certificate of Completion

After completion of all 4 units, learners will be awarded an official National University Workforce Community Education, Professional and Continuing Education Certificate of Completion.


Refund Policy

We at National University want all of our students to have a positive and rewarding learning experience. In the event that a student is not completely satisfied with a course, we offer a refund policy to ensure satisfaction.

To be eligible for a refund, submit a written request, including a valid reason, within 9 calendar days of registering for the course. Additionally, the student must not have attempted more than 25% of the course.

To request a refund, email PACE@nu.edu and include your full name, student ID, and course name. Your reason for requesting a refund will be carefully reviewed, and we reserve the right to refuse a refund if we determine the request to be invalid.

If you meet the eligibility criteria and are approved for a refund, we will issue a refund to your original method of payment within 60 days of the refund approval.


How to Access My Course

Allow up to 24 hours after enrollment for the course to appear in Brightspace. Follow the steps below:

  1. Log in to your student portal at westraining.nu.edu
  2. Click “Login”, then “Student Login”
  3. Log in using User Name (email address) and Password
  4. In your PACE student portal, click on “Brightspace LMS” on the left-hand navigation panel.
  5. Under My Courses, click the course title to get started.
