Course Description

Unlocking Credit for Prior Learning: Training for Campus Stakeholders is a comprehensive course designed to enhance your knowledge of credit for prior learning, providing a comprehensive overview of Credit for Prior Learning (CPL) for advisors, faculty, and staff. This training will allow you to explore your role in reviewing and assessing prior learning, develop a deeper understanding of CPL policies and procedures, and effectively guide students through the request process. 

Throughout this course, you will find role-specific scenarios, helpful videos from leaders in CPL, quizzes to reinforce key concepts, and activities to clarify roles and responsibilities. Participants will explore the CPL process from start to finish, including assessing prior learning, navigating policies and procedures, and managing student records. The course covers key processes involved in evaluating, approving, and documenting CPL requests, while also providing guidance on how to support students through the CPL journey. 

By the end of the course, learners will be equipped to support students effectively and ensure a smooth and efficient CPL experience from initial assessment to final approval.

Requirements to Enroll

No application is needed to enroll. All learners are eligible to enroll in the course. There are no admission requirements. It is recommended that learners have a high school diploma or GED, and have basic computer and internet knowledge.


Estimated Time to Completion

This course can be completed in 10 hours.


Access Time

Learners will have access to their course learning modules for up to 12 months from the date of enrollment.


Certificate of Completion

Learners will be awarded a National University Professional and Continuing Education Certificate of Completion after successful completion of all 6 units and earning a 100% class progress.


How to Access My Course

Allow up to 24 hours after enrollment for the course to appear in Brightspace. (An error will appear if accessed before 24 hours)

Follow the steps below:

  1. Log in to your student portal at westraining.nu.edu
  2. Click “Login”, then “Student Login”
  3. Log in using User Name (email address) and Password
  4. In your PACE student portal, click on “Brightspace LMS” on the left-hand navigation panel.
  5. Under My Courses, click the course title to get started.
