Course Description

While educators learn many tools to use as they teach online, they do not always know how to bring them all together to create high-impact lessons and a full curriculum for their class. When faced with making decisions about when and how to use online tools succinctly or when to deliver content synchronously or asynchronously, many educators are left confused. Even worse, some educators make decisions without a full understanding of how to design an online curriculum. Making informed decisions for teaching online starts by establishing an instructional framework and understanding when synchronous and asynchronous are most appropriate to optimize learning.

The following questions will be addressed in this module.

  • How does an instructional framework apply to online teaching and learning?
  • When should I use synchronous teaching?
  • When is it better to design asynchronous activities and assessments?
  • How do I use online tools to optimize learning?
