Course Description

COVID-19 is a novel virus that has created unprecedented healthcare challenges since March 2020. Nurses are called to serve in a broad range of crisis management roles that expand beyond traditional healthcare settings into home care and community settings. In this course, newly adopted protocols to screen for home care placement and safely care for the infected patient in the home setting will be explored.

Learning Objectives

  1. Discuss considerations for home care admission criteria for the infected patient.
  2. Describe evidenced based interventions to use to reduce infection transmission rates within the community.
  3. Describe evidenced based interventions healthcare professionals can use to reduce incidence of acquiring COVID-19.
  4. Explain priority interventions when caring for a home care patient infected with COVID-19.
