Course Description

The Supervision and Cultural Humility introductory course is a three-credit-hour course designed to provide supervision training, as well as cultural humility training. This course will increase your knowledge of cultural humility and how to build cultural humility into your work with supervisees and their clients. This course will explore many facets of supervising clinicians from a cultural humility lens. The supervision and cultural humility training is designed as a continuing education unit for supervisors in many clinical fields, including social work, clinical psychology, marriage and family therapy, and counseling. This course is asynchronous and designed to be an introductory course, a refresher course, or an intermediate course for supervision competencies.

Learning Objectives

  1. Define cultural humility, cultural competency, and cultural sensitivity.
  2. Understand the role of power and privilege in supervision.
  3. Describe how the understanding of “self” plays a role in cultural humility.
  4. Apply a cultural humility lens to specific case scenarios.
