Course Description

In the UI/UX Design Bootcamp, learn to conduct design research, master tools like Sketch, Adobe, and Figma, build high-fidelity prototypes, and much more. During the program, you’ll have the support of a 1:1 industry mentor, who you’ll meet with weekly, as well as a student advisor and optional career coach. During the Bootcamp, you’ll complete a capstone project and will have the option to complete three additional portfolio projects, including an Industry Design Project, where you’ll work with a real company to tackle a business problem. Prepare for a new career with eight optional career units and the support of a career coach, who can assist with mock interview and more.

Learner Outcomes

Learning Objectives/Expectations. "At the end of the course, students will be able to:"

  • Develop an understanding of foundational design principles, such as the five stages of design thinking and UI concepts of visual hierarchy, balance, and contrast
  • Develop proficiency to create designs using Sketch, Adobe XD, and Figma.
  • Develop knowledge of UX research methods, including UX research types, plans, conducting interviews and surveys, and synthesizing research.
  • Learn how to make design decisions and ideate a variety of solutions to the problem you’re solving.
  • Develop proficiency in sketching, wireframing, high-fidelity design, and responsive design.
  • Build proficiency in developing prototypes, facilitating test sessions, and synthesizing results.

Students will build these proficiencies by:

  • Conducting secondary research and applying research methods.
  • Completing sketches for a primary platform and secondary platform (mobile-first, then desktop).
  • Conducting guerilla usability tests for the capstone project.
  • Creating wireframes for mobile and desktop red routes and creating wireflows.
  • Creating a lightweight brand platform, moodboard and style guide.
  • Creating high-fidelity mockups for the capstone project and assessing for inclusion of all users
