Course Description

This course begins with an overview of a whole community approach to creating a safe and supportive learning environment. Foundational information about multi-tiered systems and supports for physical and emotional safety are presented with resources to further your self-directed learning. This is the first course in a series of three that draw on several related specializations at National University: Social Emotional Learning, Trauma-Informed Educational Practices, and School Safety and Emergency Management. You can also take this course on its own or out of sequence.

  2. Explain what is meant by a multi-tiered system of supports.
  3. Identify physical elements of a safe and supportive educational environment.
  4. Describe emotional elements of a safe and supportive educational environment.
