In addition, teacher’s aides and others who may need to design online courses will benefit from the content. This professional development certificate does not lead toward teaching certification, licensure, or credentialing.

Certificate Learning Outcomes

By the end of this certificate program students will be able to:

Prior Learning Credit

The professional development Certificate in Online Teaching is a ten-module online certificate that can provide prior learning credit for the Master of Arts in Education (MAE), which transfers to 2 graduate level elective courses. Teachers can earn one continuing education units for each course in the program, earning up to ten total continuing education units. Students who complete the entire professional development Certificate in Online Teaching and are interested in earning a Master of Arts in Education (MAE) can speak with their advisor about waiving program requirements through prior learning.


Requirements to Enroll

There are no admissions requirements. A teacher licensure credential is not required but recommended.


Estimated Time to Completion

The Certificate in Online Teaching can be completed in approximately 100 hours.


Access Time

Learners will have access to their certificate learning modules for up to 6 months from the date of their enrollment.

CEUs - 10.0 National University Continuing Education Units


Certificate of Completion

After completion of all 10 courses, learners will be awarded an official National University Workforce Education Solutions Professional and Continuing Education Certificate of Completion.
